New! Remote Volunteer Program

Why We Need Remote Volunteers

Sisu Refuge has grown rapidly over the past few years – both on the ground and online. What began as a small sanctuary is now a national platform with over 750,000 followers across social media, reaching tens millions of people each month with stories of rescue, recovery, and compassion.

That growth has allowed us to save more animals, fund critical medical care, and educate a wider audience – but it has also created a reality where much of this work is still being managed by a very small team. In many areas, our social media, communications, and administrative work is handled by one primary person, alongside the daily responsibilities of running a sanctuary.

Remote volunteers help bridge that gap.

By supporting Sisu behind the scenes, volunteers allow us to stay focused on animal care while ensuring our outreach, systems, and long-term sustainability keep pace with our impact.

How Remote Volunteers Help

We are currently seeking remote support in areas such as:

  • Social media support
(comment moderation, FAQ identification, community engagement, impact tracking)

  • Administrative & organizational support
(document organization, policy proofreading, website content review)

  • Fundraising & development support
(peer-to-peer fundraising assistance, donor communications, campaign support)

  • Grant research & writing support

  • Medical record organization & database development
(helping build a structured system for veterinary records, necropsies, and long-term medical tracking)

  • Donor program support
(stewardship workflows, acknowledgment systems, and supporter communications)

  • Knowledge-building projects
(FAQs, internal guides, and documentation that reduce long-term workload)

Remote volunteers play a critical role in helping Sisu Refuge operate responsibly, transparently, and sustainably as we grow.

What This Means

Volunteering with Sisu isn’t about busywork – it’s about supporting real systems that protect animals, people, and the future of the sanctuary. Whether you contribute a few hours a month or take on a more ongoing role, your work helps ensure that our impact is matched by strong infrastructure behind the scenes.

If you’re organized, thoughtful, mission-aligned, and looking to make a tangible difference… we’re grateful you’re here.

Flexible Commitment:
Because we are a nonprofit sanctuary, these roles are flexible and can often be done in small increments of time. Even 1–3 hours per week can make a meaningful difference for the animals.
